Years before Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo captured the pop estate, there was Britney Spears, who singlehandedly orchestrated a resurgence of teen pop in the 2000s. With legendary hits like '...Baby One More Time' and 'Oops!...I Did It Again,' Spears was once at the top of her game. Now, finally, fans would get an in-depth look at the singer's troubled journey to fame, along with her high-profile public downfall, with a fresh biopic. Among the many actresses vying for the role is 20-year-old Gen Z icon, Millie Bobby Brown.

Brown once clearly expressed her wish to play the quintessential dream woman, even before the biopic was a vision in anyone’s eye.

There is no better time to get to know Britney Spears a little bit better. Spears’ upcoming biopic with Universal Pictures would bring to life the best-selling memoir The Woman in Me. But two years before the film went into production, Millie Bobby Brown shared her goals as an actress and gave a peek into her bucket list on The Drew Barrymore Show. She stated, "I want to play a real person and I think for me: Britney Spears”.

Brown then explained why she is so eager to play Britney Spears. The Stranger Things actress, who rose to stardom before she hit her teens, could resonate with Spears, who has also grown up in the public eye. "I feel like I could tell her story in the right way and hers only,” said Brown. However, the Enola Holmes actress’ ambitions might not have been taken kindly by Spears.

After Millie Bobby Brown candidly spoke about her biopic plans on The Drew Barrymore Show, Britney Spears shared a strong reaction to it. The ‘Lucky’ singer took to her Instagram to pen a now-deleted post, saying she is not ready to have a biopic made on her just yet. “I hear about people wanting to do movies about my life … dude I’m not dead!!,” wrote Spears. While she did not mention Brown’s name, the internet got the hint.

Cut to 2024, and Britney Spears has shared her excitement about working with La La Land producer Marc Platt to develop her biopic. She wrote, “He’s always made my favorite movies” on her social media. While there has been no confirmation on which lucky actress would get the sought-after role, it seems Millie Bobby Brown’s chances have slipped away.
