Henry Cavill Ends the Guessing Game by Revealing the Truth Behind Taylor Swift’s Involvement in ‘Argylle’
Taylor Swift is like a hurricane in pop culture. Her presence is so ubiquitous that she is making headlines even in places she has no connection with. The current talk of the town revolves around her alleged authorship of the spy novel Argylle, slated for a February 2024 movie release starring Henry Cavill. Fans became even more skeptical when they found out that Apple forked over a whopping $200 million for the rights to an unpublished book by a newcomer. Finally, the star of the soon-to-be-released film has spoken out, setting the record straight once and for all.

Henry Cavill recently made an appearance on Entertainment Tonight alongside his Argylle co-star, Sam Rockwell. In the interview, the topic of Taylor Swift’s role in Argylle came up. The British actor confessed that he was unaware of the rumor until very recently. Cavill then asked if Taylor Swift even writes. After finding out she is a jack of all trades, Cavill jokingly owned up to her being the mastermind behind his movie.
When the interviewer asked whether the actors were Swifties, Sam Rockwell shared they were open to learning the ropes. It was a sentiment Henry Cavill quickly got on board with. However, they should know that being a Swiftie is no piece of cake. It involves constantly hunting for clues and Easter eggs on the internet to cook up wild theories. Take Argylle, for example, where Swifties unearthed a bunch of clues, leading them to speculate about this wildness.
The idea that Swift might be the undercover author of Argylle, going by the name Elly Conway, was born out of a blend of Easter eggs and coincidences. Here are a few of them.

The first trailer for Argylle had a Scottish Fold cat bearing a resemblance to Swift’s pet. Eagle-eyed Swifties were also quick to spot that Bryce Dallas Howard’s character sported the same shade of red hair as Taylor Swift’s character does in her All Too Well short film, where she took on the role of a writer who appeared to be working on a book about her own life. Additionally, the cinematic adaptation is purportedly based on the fourth novel in Conway’s book series, suggesting a meta-textual element akin to Swift’s artistic approach.
Adding to the intrigue, the first Instagram post from Elly Conway went live on December 13, 2022 – Swift’s birthday. Even, they shared a name with a character from the Soap opera Neighbours was also introduced on December 13. Nevertheless, with director Matthew Vaughn outright debunking this association and Henry Cavill reinforcing the denial, it is safe to say that these theories are nothing but fans grasping at straws.
