Even ‘Argylle’ Director Matthew Vaughn’s Daughter Was Convinced That Taylor Swift Scripted the Film
The excitable fandom associated with Taylor Swift has been quite invigorated recently, spinning mind-breaking theories about her. Besides the one about her being in the Pentagon, another suggested that she wrote the upcoming flick Argylle. The possibility was so preposterous that it would have broken the internet if it turned out to be true. While it was clarified later that an author named Elly Conway, who is credited as its author, does exist, some back rooms online continued to whisper conspiracies of Conway being Swift’s ghost name.
As it turns out, the film’s director Matthew Vaughn’s daughter also got caught up in the whirlwind.

In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine today, Vaughn confessed that not being a “big internet guy,” he was unaware of this conspiracy. So when his daughter approached him demanding why he did not tell her that “Taylor wrote the book”, he was understandably befuddled. The suggestion made him crack up and amidst bouts of laughter, he tried to make his daughter accept that “she didn’t write the book.”
Despite emphasizing that the rumors were “not true”, Vaughn felt his daughter was “convinced” of the opposite. Well, the internet does make a compelling case for the same in some contexts. The pop star is a known lover of the Argyle pattern, which is the basis of the film’s name and story. Not only that, a central character in it is a fluffy cat, and fans of the 34-year-old know that she is a feline lover. So, the parallels drawn are somewhat accurate.
Speaking of felines, the cat in question also has a connection to Vaughn’s daughter.

While many know that Argylle will be Dua Lipa’s debut flick in a full-fledged role, it may not be common knowledge for some that another main character, Alfie the Cat, is also portrayed by a newcomer. The cat who seems to be quite monumental to the story judging by the film’s trailer, is the family cat of Vaughns. Its name is Chip and it belongs to the Kick-Ass director’s inquisitive daughter.
Vaughn had earlier relayed that Chip had given him a lot of grief while shooting which led him to put a tracker on the feline. Well, one can get antsy when making a debut alongside Hollywood megastars like Henry Cavill, John Cena, Samuel L. Jackson, and Catherine O’Hara after all. With the movie’s release (February 2nd) just around the corner, the adorable Chip’s acting skills will be revealed soon.
