After SZA’s Glowing Debut, Fans Dream a Horror Outing for Sabrina Carpenter in a Stereotypical Role

Showbiz has evolved in more ways than one, which means artists are no longer stuck on a fixture within a singular area of expertise. Last year witnessed the seamless flux of the record and the film industry with pop royalties like Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez, and Lady Gaga, trading their stage spotlight for red carpet premieres. Although Hollywood’s year got off to a blazing start, with LA’s devastating wildfires dousing the typical Tinseltown cheer, fans’ creative sparks remained unbridled. Their latest flight of fancy is casting Sabrina Carpenter into a horror movie archetype, following in the footsteps of SZA’s recent foray into acting.

An X user recently re-shared snaps from Sabrina Carpenter’s Saturday Night Live skit from seven months ago where the pop princess slipped into Daphne Blake’s character from Scooby Doo. However, what was more interesting than Carpenter’s exact cosplay was the pitch that the fan made, urging her to venture into a horror comedy flick to portray a “dumb blonde who’s the final girl” to survive. While the ‘Espresso’ singer had her feet dipped in the acting world before, the idea may have floated thanks to SZA’s latest acting debut.

Serving as the first theatrical black R-rated comedy since Girls Trip (2017), the film has already earned positive reviews worldwide. While envisioning Sabrina Carpenter in a horror-comedy could be a token effort, the enthusiasm is undeniable regardless.

Sabrina Carpenter’s fan-casting in a horror-comedy stereotype leaves enthusiasts seated

Unlike other stars who just debuted in the acting world following a musical intermission in recent years, one thread ties Sabrina Carpenter, Ariana Grande, and Selena Gomez together—their earlier roots in acting. Although watching Carpenter in a movie has been a dream lately, fans are giving air to some of the biggest plots, making a case for a potential blockbuster. Plus, given how pop stars have potentially etched their names into the Academy’s consciousness, who would not like another Oscar contender in their team?

Fans have joined the thread to add more twists and turns to the already gripping backdrop they set the singer in.
