Ryan Reynolds had teamed up with bidders and real estate developer Remington Group to bid on the $800 million worth of Ottawa Senators. But according to Forbes, one condition of their led them to lose out on the deal. He and the Group’s leader Chris Bratty wanted a 30-day exclusive time period to purchase the team. But there was already a condition to put down a nonrefundable deposit if a purchase was to be made.
According to this exclusive condition, trustees of the late Eugene Melnyk who owned the team, outrightly denied this request. The reason? An exception of this kind would not be taken well by other interested parties. There are a total of six strong bidders, including rapper Snoop Dogg, The Weeknd, and more. In addition, Reynolds, who bid $1 billion, is not even the highest bidder.
