Henry Cavill Makes His Exit Felt as ‘The Witcher’ Season 3 Final Two Episodes Become Series’ Lowest Rated
Netflix’s The Witcher has been one of the most popular fantasy shows on Netflix. It was largely thanks to the thrilling adaptation of the titular character, Geralt of Rivia by Henry Cavill. However, as the show wrapped up its third season, it marked the end of an era for fans. The lead Cavill had exited the project and things began to sour for the series.
After an epic saga of storytelling and following the monster hunter, Geralt, Netflix showed signs of hiccups toward the start of the third season. However, the show managed to keep fans attracted and hooked on the series. A large and devoted fandom caters to The Witcher and its characters. However, Season 3, specifically its final two episodes, left them disappointed. The goal was to finish Cavill’s performance on a high, but it didn’t quite hit the target. The episodes now bear the burden of being the lowest-rated episodes of the entire series.

Season 3 Episode 7 and Episode 8 received thrashing ratings on IMDb with 4.2 out of 10 and 5.3 out of 10, respectively. Meanwhile, the entire season itself shockingly sits on a mere 5.8 rating currently. Also on Rotten Tomatoes, the season in its entirety has a meager 22% audience rating.
Notably, the first-ever episode of The Witcher debuted with a massive 8.2/10 rating. It is also interesting to note that for the entire run of its first two seasons, none of the series’ episodes dropped below a 7 rating. Alas, Season 3 Episode 1 broke that too with just 6.8 on the charts. The total votes too gradually declined with each passing episode in the season.
The poor performance of the show coupled with Henry Cavill’s exit and a viewership drop suggests tough times for the series which is gearing up for its fourth season.

Henry Cavill is incredibly loved by fans of the series for his dedication to The Witcher franchise. Along with going through rigorous training for his role, the actor closely followed the source material: books and games. In light of this, he was very particular to maintain faithfulness and originality in the franchise. At times, Cavill improvised his dialogues to match the source matter. However, the most glaring fact occurred when Henry Cavill proposed changes to the script to maintain its authenticity but was disregarded by the writers.
It is widely believed that one of the primary reasons behind the Man Of Steel actor’s exit from the show was its abrupt deviation from its source. It should be paramount for the writers to maintain credibility in a show that derives a large following from its lead actor and source matter. Nevertheless, Netflix’s decision has already caused a thirty percent drop in the series’ viewership. Furthermore, the recent ratings of the final episodes show the waning interest of fans in the series. As such, Season 4 headed by Liam Hemsworth as Geralt has a lot of turf to cover.
