Everything We Know About Netflix’s Catherine Tate Series “Hard Cell”

Popular actress Catherine Tate is starring in a new Netflix Original comedy
series titled Hard Cell.

You probably know Catherine Tate thanks to her roles in Doctor Who or The
Office. While she played Donna Noble in Doctor Who, the popular comedy series
had her as the iconic British businesswoman Nellie Bertram. Tate has also played
in many other various series, movies, and even video games. Therefore, the
expectations from her new Netflix Originals
[https://netflixjunkie.com/category/originals/] series Hard Cell are quite high.

If you’re eagerly waiting for Hard Cell to come to Netflix and wonder its
situation right now, here is what we currently know about the series.

WHAT IS THE SYNOPSIS OF A “HARD CELL”?

Catherine Tate will play as many different characters in this mockumentary of a
women’s prison.

“A documentary crew follows the inmates and staff of HMP Woldsley while
Catherine Tate portrays multiple characters to capture the penal system at its
brutal humorous best.”

The premise seems just fine, and the team seems capable of delivering a good
experience. Here’s what the executive producer Kristian Smith thinks about Hard
Cell.

“We cannot wait to show audiences on Netflix the inside of HMP Woldsley, our
fictional prison occupied by the fantastic creations of Catherine Tate. This
series is funny and touching all at once, revealing what life might be like in a
British women’s correctional facility.”

WHO ARE IN THE CAST AND CREW OF “HARD CELL”?

Leopard Pictures is the production company behind Hard Cell. They are a part of
the Argonon Group.

Catherine Tate is an actor and a creator in Hard Cell while Kristian Smith and
Jennie Fava are the executive producer and producer, respectively.

As we previously mentioned, the most important cast member is Catherine Tate, as
she’ll play multiple characters. Christian Brassington, Suzie Chard, Niky
Wardley, Lorna Brown, Caroline Harding, Duncan Wisbey, Jola Olajide, and more
will be joining Tate in the cast of Hard Cell.

Here are some of the actors and their characters in the series

* Catherine Tate as multiple characters
* Christian Brassington as Dean
* Lorna Brown as Cal
* Caroline Harding as Sal
* Suzie Chard as No Hat Cathy
* Jola Olajide as Charlee
* Donna Preston as Fat Pat
* Peter Singh as Gary
* Niky Wardley as Anastasia
* Duncan Wisbey as Martin

HOW MANY EPISODES WILL HARD CELL HAVE?

According to IMDb, Hard Cell only has six episodes.

The series is a limited one, so a new season seems highly unlikely. However,
Netflix can change its decision if Hard Cells becomes a smash-hit. We’ll see.

WHAT IS THE RELEASE DATE OF HARD CELL?

The series started filming on June 30th, 2021, according to ProductionWeekly.
Usually, it takes a year to film and post-produce a single season. This season
is relatively small, so you can expect it to take even shorter.

So, we expect Hard Cell to come to Netflix sometime around Q1-Q2 2022. The
production is in its baby steps though, it’s best to wait for some official
announcements. Still, we don’t expect the series to drop later than the first
half of 2022.
