Deadpool Joins ‘The Gray Man’ as Chris Evans Gets a Prequel for Lloyd Hansen

Netflix’s most expensive movie that fans are hoping would turn the tide in the streaming giant’s favor again, The Gray Man is getting a prequel. And guess who’s writing it? Deadpool’s Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick! We can only hope that the prequel brings the fun elements of Deadpool.

The Gray Man is an adaptation of Mark Greaney’s novel of the same name. Ryan Gosling’s Courtland Gentry, a skilled mercenary is at the center of the movie.  He stumbles upon the CIA’s dark secrets and this sets a target on his back. The man deployed to hunt him down is his former colleague, Chris Evans’ Lloyd Hansen.

What is The Gray Man prequel about?

Very limited information is available on the project so far. We only know that Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick are involved. It will focus on Chris Evans’ character Lloyd Hansen instead of Gosling’s. We might get a fascinating origin story of the principal antagonist of the flick.

Additionally, along with the prequel news, came another big surprise. It’s not unknown that the Russo brothers are behind the big-budget Netflix movie. And they had planned to expand the spy cinematic universe, and make it into a saga. But that was only after the first was well received. However, a recent report states that a sequel to the Gosling-led movie is already in the works. Another Marvel writer, Stephen McFeely, is working on the sequel. Currently, the project is in its nascent stages. Though, if it gets made, Gosling will return to reprise his role as Courtland Gentry, a.k.a ‘Sierra Six’.

The brothers have directed all the Captain America films and the last two Avengers movies. And now, they’ve made it into Netflix with the streamer’s costliest movie to date at $200 million.

The Netflix movie will have a limited theatrical release on July 15. From July 22, it’ll be available to stream on Netflix. However, the release of the prequel and the sequel cannot be estimated yet.
