What is the release date for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners? What should we expect from the series based on Cyberpunk 2077?

Netflix has lots of productions in the works varying from licensed titles, original films, and returning TV series. The world’s leading streaming platform is also keen on releasing new shows from the universe of video games. In this context, Netflix has joined forces with lots of video game developers like Ubisoft and CD Projekt Red.

Video game company based in Poland, CD Projekt Red has developed one of the most anticipated games of the last decade. Cyberpunk 2077 came out back in December 2020 and shattered the video game community for being under expectations. Though Netflix had joined forces with CD Projekt Red long before the release of the game in order to tell new stories from the world of Cyberpunk.

Even though the video game flopped big time, we still have a Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime series on the way. The video game world has no hopes for Cyberpunk 2077 as the game’s current state is still full of bugs and the title feels incomplete overall. Especially because of this, fans of the Cyberpunk universe are now eager than ever for the upcoming Edgerunners. Maybe Netflix Cyberpunk anime series can be better in telling stories without inconsistencies.

So, has Netflix announced Cyberpunk: Edgerunners release date? When will the Cyberpunk anime series land on the streaming platform?

Back in June 2020, Netflix announced that it was making a Cyberpunk anime with the collaboration of Trigger and CD Projekt RED. Although there are not any official announcements regarding an exact release date, Netflix stated that Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was coming in 2022.

For those who want to see Night City without any bugs and glitches, you might have to wait for a little more. We also do not have any information about the production stage of the anime series. The disastrous launch of Cyberpunk 2077 might have had its effects on the project as well.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners has been in production for more than two years now. We do not think that it will be cancelled just because the main source of inspiration flopped in the market. In fact, this might even accelerate the process as the fans are now waiting for a type of compensation. In this context, it is safe to say that we will see Cyberpunk: Edgerunners next year.

We also know that the first season of the upcoming adaptation will consist of 10 episodes. The first installment of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners will follow a street kid who finds himself in the heart of Night City and its endless possibilities.
