The new American satirical science fiction film Don’t Look Up by Adam McKay, is quite become the hot talk of the town. The film has received has a lot of divided criticism with its cutting satire. But, the film has been flooded with memes and commentary about both the plotline and the attitudes it aims at.

The cast is quite star-studded which includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence, Cate Blanchett, Meryl Streep, Timothée Chalamet, Mark Rylance, Ron Perlman, Ariana Grande, Scott Mescudi, Himesh Patel, Melanie Lynskey, Michael Chiklis, and Tomer Sisley.

The plot of the film develops around Kate Dibiasky an astronomy grad student, and her professor Dr. Randall Mindy, both of them together make an astounding discovery about a comet that is on a direct collision course with Earth. But, when they inform the higher authorities and The White House, no one seems to care. Turns out a Mount Everest size that can abolish the human species is inadequate to them. With the help of Dr. Oglethorpe, Kate and Randall try to inform the media, which also turns out to be an inadequate matter for them. With only six months until the comet makes an impact, what’s going to take to get the world to just look up?!

The film has created quite a spark in the industry, since it was released on Netflix on December 24th, 2021. The film quite likened it to the reality of the world today, concerning both climate change and the COVID-19 pandemic. Through this film, viewers can very much connect to the reality of the modern-day world. Even actress Angela Belcamino, also shared her review about the film, where she claims, “Don’t Look Up replaced the virus with a comet and all the rest falls into place. Well played. Well written. p.s. Repubs aren’t going to like this one.”
