Channel 4’s Teen Comedy Derry Girls Returns for a Season 3 on Netflix
May the last adventure begin! The hilarious teen comedy, Derry Girls by Lisa McGee is making a comeback to Netflix with season 3. The show’s broadcaster, Channel 4 unveiled the new trailer that has fans excited.
The series introduced us to the 5 misfit teenagers when it aired in 2018. The show is set in the 1990s Northern Ireland against the backdrop of political unrest and peace negotiations. Season 1 has the gang navigating their adolescence in the midst of all the protests, which didn’t bother them anyway. In the subsequent season, while their parents were invested in the country’s peace process, the teens were busy rebelling. The lighthearted comedy series won hearts and a loyal fan following once it dropped on Netflix.

The cast of Derry Girls
Derry Girls won’t be the same show without our core gang. Erin (Saoirse-Monica Jackson), Clare (Nicola Coughlan), Orla (Louisa Harland), Michelle (Jamie-Lee O’Donnell), and James (Dylan Llewellyn) will reprise their roles. As they get ready for their upcoming GCSEs, they all get up to their usual hijinks. While Northern Ireland starts changing around them, the kids will have a long way to go.
From the trailer, it looks like the gang will head on a trip to the amusement park. Orla’s mother, Erin’s parents, and grandparents will also accompany the gang, so you can expect more chaos! Our favorite deadpan headmistress, Sister Michael, and handsome Father Priest will also appear throughout the series to inject the show with more humor.
Will there be a season 4?
As much as we are excited about the news of Derry Girls season 3, unfortunately, it is the last season. The coming age comedy concludes with season 3. Creator Lisa McGee took to Twitter in 2021 to explain her decision behind ending the much-loved show.
