Bridgerton season 2 is unfortunately not going to land on the popular streaming platform in the following month.
Bridgerton is among the most popular Netflix Originals without a doubt. Having debuted on Netflix in December 2020, the series quickly became a fan-favorite one. Millions of viewers have tuned in to watch Bridgerton since its release, and this prompted Netflix to renew it for a second season. Fortunately, they renewed Bridgerton for season 2. Moreover, they confirmed two extra seasons after that, so we know Bridgerton is planned to continue until season 4, at least.
Anyway, they started shooting the second season of Bridgerton at the beginning of May. Therefore, they still have a long way to go before finishing it. After filming, the post-production process will start. We’ll have to wait for it to end before reaching the new season. With this being the case, not many people were expecting Bridgerton season 2 to be released the next month. Well, we now know it for sure thanks to Netflix’s sneak peek at what’s coming to the platform in July 2021. Bridgerton’s second season is nowhere to be found on the list of prominent July 2021 releases.

What is the expected release date of Bridgerton season 2?
Well, even though we do not know the exact release date of Bridgerton season 2, we have some information to base our guesses upon. When we look at the production process of the first season, it gives us some ideas about what to expect from season 2. If the crew can manage to produce the next season just like they did the first one, we can expect an early-mid 2022 release date. Given that the pandemic has less effect on the industry, we might even make a more optimistic projection. Yet, they’re still filming the season, so it’s too early to say anything for sure. The first half of 2022 seems fine, but we’ll have to wait for Netflix to make an official announcement.
Bridgerton’s future after season 2
As we mentioned earlier in our article, Bridgerton still has a long way to go even after the second season. The series was official renewed for seasons three and four before the second season started filming. Here’s what Betsy Bajaria, Netflix’s Vice President for global TV, had to say about the renewal.
“Bridgerton swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda, knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come.”
Bridgerton’s story is based on the novels written by Julia Quinn. The first season is based on the first novel, and the second season will be based on the second one. So, the third and fourth seasons are presumably going to follow this formula as well. Seasons 3 and 4 are apparently going to be based on the third and the fourth novels: “An Offer From a Gentleman” and “Romancing Mister Bridgerton.” The crew has a lot of books after those to adapt to TV, so they won’t fall short of stories.
