Bridgerton season 2 production paused because of another pandemic case
Netflix reportedly paused the production process of Bridgerton season 2 indefinitely because of a new pandemic case.
Bridgerton is one of the most popular Netflix shows out there without a doubt. Its first season was a huge sensation when it was first released back in December 2020. Fans have been waiting for the second season for a while now. The production process of the second season started earlier this year, however, it had to be paused for a day because of a pandemic case the last week. They went on to shoot the season, nevertheless, there’s been another case now, as Deadline reports. Therefore, the crew stopped filming for an indefinite period of time.
The first case was a crew member, but we don’t know who’s infected now. Given that they stopped filming indefinitely, it’s probably a cast member who’s tested positive. Moreover, there might be more cases among the cast and crew of Bridgerton. We don’t know when they can get back to film. Let’s hope everyone’s safe and they can start filming in no time again.

Netflix constantly tests the crew members of its movies and series to prevent infections before it’s too late. They have to do this to ensure the shows go on without any problems, and it seems their efforts pay off. With the new emerging variants, it’s even more concerning for the streaming platform to keep the crew safe despite the widespread availability of vaccination.
While waiting for new updates on the production of Bridgerton, let’s check out when we can expect its new season to drop.
They started shooting the second season of Bridgerton in May 2021. So, we can safely say that they still have a long way to go until they finish the production process. Unfortunately, the latest pandemic cases might make it worse, too.
When we check out the first season’s production process, we can make an educated guess. Assuming that they can finish filming the new season by the end of 2021, which is quite likely, we can expect a mid-2022 release date for Bridgerton season 2. If they hurry up, we can even see the new season drop at the beginning of 2022. However, a 2021 release for Bridgerton season 2 is not likely at all, if not impossible.
Fortunately, Bridgerton will not come to an end after its new season. Netflix officially renewed the series for at least two more seasons after the second season. So, they’re planning to shoot until at least season 4, and we’ll see what will happen after season 4.

In addition to that, there’s also a spin-off underway. Netflix recently announced a spin-off for Bridgerton, which will focus on the life of the young Queen Charlotte.
Here’s what Betsy Bajaria, Netflix’s Vice President for global TV, had to say about the renewal of Bridgerton for seasons 3 and 4.
“Bridgerton swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda, knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come.”
