Netflix confirmed in a press conference that the popular series Bridgerton is going to be renewed for seasons 3 and 4.

Bridgerton, Netflix’s popular Regency-era drama that’s based on the novel series of the same name by Julia Quinn, is planned to be on the streaming platform with two more announced seasons. We’re currently waiting for Bridgerton’s second season, in which we won’t see the first season’s star, Rege-Jean Page. The production process of the second season is yet to commence. However, we now know that Bridgerton will not leave us after the next season, as seasons 3 and 4 are officially greenlit.

Netflix’s Vice President for global TV, Betsy Bajaria, expressed her thoughts about the series like this:

“Bridgerton swept us off our feet. The creative team, led by Shonda, knew the material and delivered a beautiful, emotional, romantic drama for our members. They have some exciting plans for the future, and we think audiences will continue to swoon for this show. We’re planning to be in the Bridgerton business for a long time to come.”

Bridgerton‘s executive producer Shonda Rhimes had the following to say about the announcement of the third and the fourth seasons.

“From the first time I read Julia Quinn’s delicious Bridgerton series, I knew these were stories that would captivate a viewing audience. But the evolution of this adaptation would not be a success without the many significant contributions of the entire Shondaland team. This two-season pickup is a strong vote of confidence in our work and I feel incredibly grateful to have partners as collaborative and creative as Netflix. Betsy and I are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue bringing the world of Bridgerton to a worldwide audience.”

We know that Bridgerton‘s first and second seasons are respectively based on the first and the second entries of Quinn‘s book series. Therefore, we can safely assume that the new seasons are going to follow that storyline. While the first season is based on “The Duke and I,” the second follows the story of “The Viscount Who Loved Me.” Seasons 3 and 4 are apparently going to be based on the third and the fourth novels: “An Offer From a Gentleman” and “Romancing Mister Bridgerton.”

We don’t know whether the series is going to continue after season 4. However, that’s a thing to learn after the possible success of the new seasons.

Although Netflix has officially announced the new seasons, Bridgerton season 2 still has a long way to go before its release. The season has not started the production process, so it’s quite difficult to guesstimate a release date.
