Fans of the successful Snyder movie are going to be happy. That’s because Army of Thieves, which is the prequel of Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, finally has a release date.

As you might remember, Netflix released Army of the Dead back in May. Even though it certainly didn’t live up to the expectations, many people tuned in to watch Snyder’s movie. After that, we began to wait for its origin story. Well, the wait is coming to an end sooner than expected as Army of Thieves is going to make its way to Netflix this October.

Army of Thieves, which will tell of the events that took place before Army of the Dead, will be an origin story for the safecracker Ludwig Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer). As we will see, he was a bank teller before the zombie outbreak. A mysterious woman recruits him to a group that robs banks all across Europe. As there’s a zombie outbreak and banks are experiencing unusual problems around the world, the thieves are leveraging that opportunity to pull off great scores. This movie will not be in the middle of zombies, but instead, the crew will take advantage of the zombie outbreak that’s far away in the world.

The director of Army of Thieves is Matthias Schweighöfer, who’s also the lead star, playing the role of the safecracker. The co-producers with him, on the other hand, are Zack Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Dan Maag, Misha Bukowski, and Wesley Coller. Christian Angermayer, Klemens Hallmann, and Frank Kusche are the executive producers. Shay Hatten pens the script of Army of Thieves while the story is from Zack Snyder, as you know.

Army of Thieves is going to come to Netflix on October 15th. As a matter of fact, we weren’t expecting it to drop this soon, so this piece of news is exciting for the fans who were eagerly waiting for the movie – if there’s any. Considering the backlash the first movie received, it does not seem very likely. Still, it’s always exciting to watch a new Snyder endeavor, so why not give this one a shot?

It’s as Netflix says: “More safes. Less zombies.”
