The anime community can go all day debating about what the best anime is. While a plethora of shows are worthy of the title, a few surely have an edge over the others. Fitting the bill are the three iconic shows, Bleach, One Piece, and Naruto. Every anime fan can attest to the fact that they have at least watched one of the three anime in their lifetimes. Their popularity and extensive length are like no other and are popularly known as the ‘Shonen Big Three’ anime. However, despite their incredible legacies, neither of the three is the highest-grossing anime franchise in the world.

It has been years since the big three Shonen anime made their way to our screens. Even after all the time passed, the anime fanbase is still in awe of these incredible shows. While they surely have a special place in the heart of anime fans, they are still behind another popular anime title. As surprising as it sounds, Pokémon is the highest-grossing anime franchise of all time.

Premiered much before the big three Shonen anime, Pokémon is perhaps one of the most well known and popular anime franchise. As per reports by CBR, the Pokémon Company last publicized their net worth back in 2019. Back then, the franchise was worth around a whooping $71 billion.

Meanwhile, as of late, the franchise’s net worth would be around more than a $100 billion. The adventure comedy show took the world by storm and ever since remains to be a hot topic among the anime fans. However, the anime is not the only thing that adds up to the franchise’s worth.

Apart from their lucrative anime, their card trades, video games and even merchandise add significantly to the $100 billion worth. It might surprise you to know but, Pokémon books and toys easily surpass the anime and video games in terms of earnings.

We are no strangers to the massive anime catalogue Netflix enjoys. Over the years, we have witnessed how the streamer has significantly grown its collection housing some of the biggest anime. As per latest reports by ScreenRant, the last championship finals featuring Ash Ketchum will premiere on Netflix on June 23, 2023. This will also be the last time fans will witness the lead Ash on our screens. Following that, Pokémon Horizons will follow new leads, Like and Roy. However, as of late, it is unclear whether Pokémon Horizons will be available on Netflix.
