Naruto fans have something good on their plates right now. Masashi Kishimoto, the mastermind behind the adored manga and anime series, released his brand new one-shot manga. This special edition puts the spotlight on none other than Minato Namikaze, the Fourth Hokage and Naruto’s father, who holds a special place in fans’ hearts. The manga which hit shelves in July 2023, unveils aspects of Minato’s past and sheds light on his intricate bond with his son.

The latest one-shot manga is a treat for Minato’s fans as a testament to his strength, which was evident in his victory in the NARUTOP99 poll. This poll, conducted globally to commemorate the anniversary of 20th anniversary of Naruto anime, showcased Minato Namikaze’s immense popularity.

Minato Namikaze holds significance within the Naruto series and is widely admired. He served as the Fourth Hokage of Konoha, leading the Hidden Leaf Village as a ninja. Known as the Yellow Flash of Konoha, he possessed speed and mastery over the Flying Thunder God Technique, allowing him to teleport instantly. Additionally, he is Naruto Uzumaki’s father – the series’ protagonist. Revered as the one who sealed Nine Tails inside Naruto when he was just an infant, making the ultimate sacrifice to safeguard the village from its rampage.

The new one-shot manga is called Naruto: The Whorl Within the Spiral. It became available on VIZ Media’s website and app on July 16th, 2023. Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine and MangaPlus app also published it on July 18th, 2023. Notably, this manga was illustrated by Masashi Kishimoto himself – his first contribution to a Naruto manga since 2015.

Moreover, Naruto fans also have many other things to look forward to. A series of spin-offs on the titular character are in the works.

Evolution of the Naruto Universe in 2023

The Naruto universe is not slowing down in 2023, as it celebrates the 20th anniversary of the anime adaptation, which debuted in 2002. To mark this milestone, a new anime special, titled Naruto (Shinsaku), will air in September 2023. It will feature four brand-new episodes that will showcase the adventures of Team 7 before Sasuke’s defection. Masashi Kishimoto will write and illustrate the special. Fans can expect to see some nostalgic and heartwarming moments with Naruto, Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi, as well as some action-packed battles and surprises.

The Naruto universe will also expand its gaming horizon in 2023. A new game, titled Naruto X Boruto Ultimate Ninja Storm Connections shall launch soon. The game will be the next entry in the popular Ultimate Ninja Storm series. The game will feature characters from both the Naruto and Boruto series, as well as an original story that will connect the two generations of shinobi.
