Netflix’s Stopmotion Miracle ‘Pokémon Concierge’ Has a Release Date
An animated show centered around unrealistically cute fictional creatures that are captured and trained to fight battles has been comfortably seated at the crux of pop culture relevance for over two decades. There is only one of its kind: Pokémon. In a world where technology is king, it managed to do the arduous task of getting people to move: physically in 2016, through ‘Pokémon Go’, and emotionally in 2023, with Pokémon Concierge.
While Netflix’s interest in an iconic anime series fails to surprise anyone at this point, its take on Pokémon remains a league above. Instead of opting for a live-action as it did with Avatar: The Last Airbender, the OTT Mogul has decided to merge the fun of Pokémon with the brilliance of stop-motion. Ever since its announcement, fans have been waiting with bated breaths to mark a date on their calendar. Matching the prediction, Netflix announced that it will be dropping Pokémon Concierge towards the end of the year.
Through the Netflix anime panel, the streamer dropped a short clip featuring Psyduck and a red-haired girl, who we are assuming is the concierge. It is unclear when exactly the series will premiere, but one can expect it to warm up our December.

Netflix has opted to stay mum about the details of the series. However, its visual brilliance is far too good to stay undercover. This is the first time an anime got a stop-motion adaptation.
The Netflix Pokémon series has put Haru at the helm of affairs quite literally as she is the concierge. But given how the anime series was a wrecking ball of adventures, one wonders how much of that can be translated into a stop-motion series.
Will Pokémon Concierge be an adventurous series?

In 2022, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio became all the rage as it filled audiences with the sinking realization that they have underestimated stop-motion. It was Netflix who provided the project with the time and budget to become an Academy Award winner. And the OTT Mogul is doing the same for Pokémon Concierge. However, the standards differ by a huge margin.
While Pinocchio was also an adaptation, anime fans are a bit more conservative. Therefore, as Netflix brings forth a stop-motion series centered at a resort where humans and pokémons co-exist, fans have their skepticism. However, it is likely that the series will use the hotel’s guests to amplify the excitement. But until December, all we can do is to spectate.
