Netflix is Back With Another Exciting ‘One Piece’ Update, Events and Screenings Await!

One Piece, the iconic manga series created by Eiichiro Oda, has ruled over anime enthusiasts for a long time. What makes this anime truly stand out is its exciting characters and depiction of relevant issues. When the news of a live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga was dropped by Hiroyuki Nakano, it whipped the fans into a frenzy. Since then fans have been waiting for this award-winning series’ release with bated breath. 

Post the announcement of its release date, the makers have been dropping several updates to maintain the buzz around the series. Finally, after a lot of teasing, Netflix Tudum has posted an update informing fans about the upcoming events and screenings of the fantasy adventure TV series.

Tudum announced that Netflix will be hosting 10 global events to unite One Piece fans from all across the world. The event will start in Los Angeles on 24th August, and the celebration will continue till the premiere of the series, which is 31st Aug. The events will take place in 10 different countries, starting in LA and concluding in Germany. In these events, fans can have access to games, giveaways, and in-world photo ops and can even get to watch the first episode of the One Piece series. All in all, it will be an attempt to unite Straw Hats all over the world.

The television adaptation of the award-winning manga series will feature Asians On Film Festival winner Mackenyu along with the People’s Choice Award winner Taz Skylar. They will be playing the characters of Roronoa and Sanji, respectively. The American actress Emily Ellen Rudd and Jacob Romero Gibson, known for their roles in Fear Street and Grey’s Anatomy, respectively, are a part of it too. These popular actors are playing Nami and Usopp. Additionally, Iñaki Godoy Jasso bagged the role of the most important character of Monkey D. Luffy.

Things to expect from the live adaptation of One Piece

Netflix’s One Piece will be a 10-episode long series that will cover the two story arcs from the manga–the East Blue Saga and the Alabasta Saga. Even though Netflix’s live-action adaptations have a history of failing to deliver, Eiichiro Oda’s association as a producer is making fans hopeful. After the disaster of Cowboy Bebop, the success of this best-selling series’ adaptation is in limbo!

The series has received a lot of hype owing to its reputation and the fact that this is one of the biggest production projects in Africa to date. With such a whopping investment, fans expect the makers to do justice to the fan-loved manga. Whatever said or done, Season 2 of One Piece can only happen if Season 1 successfully hits the bullseye.
