‘Dragon Ball Z’ Creator Takahiro Yoshimatsu Reveals the Key Ingredient for a Succesful Anime
Anime may have cracked the golden code to pop culture relevance only in recent years. Owing to its authenticity, anime has always been and will probably be an evergreen phenomenon. And Dragon Ball Z is a testament to this. The anime premiered on the 26th of April, 1989, and wrapped up in January 1996 in Japan. However, the rest of the world is still taking notes and wondering just what it is about Dragon Ball Z that makes it timeless.
As anime keeps on getting popular by the second, those interested in the art of storytelling decided to call up the master himself. At an event in the United Arab Emirates, Takahiro Yoshimatsu was invited to talk about how he made some of the greatest animes of all time.

One of the most amusing elements as anime and other forms of Asian entertainment seep into the mainstream is how the creators never intended to do so. They never set out to create a masterpiece that would be marveled at by the world. Takahiro Yoshimatsu said, “For me as a Japanese artist, I’m just doing my work in Japan in Japanese,” as reported by The National. He confessed to being dumbfounded at the global attention one of his earliest works was receiving. When asked about his creative process, the director stressed binding it all together. “You need to combine image, sound, and the goal of a story together,” Yoshimatsu said.
Takahiro Yoshimatsu is best known for Dragon Ball Z. However, he has also worked on Trigun, Ninja Scroll: The Series, and Hunter X Hunter. He also made it clear that it all boils down to drawing for him.
Ever since he was a child, he had dreamed of pursuing his passion as an artist. And even at 57, his skills have not gotten rusty as he continues to bring forth commendable animes.

Does Takahiro Yoshimatsu still make animes?
The Dragon Ball Z director is also a Character Designer, Key Animation, and Animation Director. Basically, when it comes to anime, Yoshimatsu is a one-man army. And he continues to put his artistic skills to use by keeping up with the trends. The director seems to be well aware of the fact that his best work came at a different time.

In Overload, he changed his approach by a wide margin and opted for brighter colors to better fit the dystopian world of the anime. His creativity is evident in each anime he becomes a part of. As Overload was his last anime, fans are still waiting for another masterpiece by Takahiro Yoshimatsu.
