It certainly has been a long time since we got to see a new gig from the legendary manga series, Naruto, hit the silver screen. Sure! Naruto and co. may have a plethora of things to take care of at their Hidden Leaf Village, but after almost a decade of Boruto: Naruto The Movie, something new about the whereabouts of the world’s greatest ninjas is all fans may need.

The last film notably opened the gates for the adventures of the son of the Seventh Hokage, and hence for the next generation of Konoha’s strongest ninjas. And while Studio Pierrot may take a respite from Boruto’s lore, it is the best time they gift fans with something they have been longing for- a new Naruto movie, as “canonic” as the previous one.

If we look at the previous 11 films from the manga, they are not the exact adaptions from the source material. Like Dragon Ball, Naruto films often mix original stories and manga adaptations. And with the Boruto series giving way to new stories from the lore to be explored, the Studio can chance upon this opportunity to create yet another breathtaking feature film. Furthermore, despite the recent downfall of studio Pierrot, its most recent project, Sword of The Wizard King, is enough to prove its capability.

So what exactly could be the new feature film about?

There is no news about the plot of the new film. However, what we do know is it is almost the time when fans get to see a Naruto feature film. After all, there is a lot of material unexplored about Konoha’s history. While fans would certainly love something as simple as revisiting some different arc of Naruto’s tale, exploring other characters such as the Minato, originators of Konoha, Jiraiya, or anyone who has played a significant role in Naruto or Boruto’s path-building would also be a great idea.

Even a special feature about the thrilling villains of the lore would be a magnificent hit. And a blend of good storytelling, edge-of-the-seat action, and mind-boggling animation will just be a cherry on the top. Furthermore, back in May, we also got an update about one-shot manga on Naruto’s father, Minato by creator Masashi Kishimoto. So they might as well adapt that into a film.
