Back in 2022, the head of anime at Netflix promised a significant expansion of this genre on their platform in the coming years. And releasing on 12th October, Good Night World is one among many titles that seem to be fulfilling that promise. Its trailer opens with some uplifting music playing in the background of fast-paced thrilling sequences. It introduces us to what seem to be characters in a video game in spectacular fashion. But it all suddenly comes to a halt.

Earlier in the trailer, the Akabane Family is shown as a tight-knit bunch in an online game called Planet. But as the virtual pixels fade away, they present as a real-life family in complete disharmony. As a stirring anime about family, this one is going to hit the hardest of hearts right in the feels.
