Actress Yvonne Chapman Eases Fan Worries About Netflix’s ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ Live Action Adaptation

Avatar: The Last Airbender live-action adaptation has always been a project to look out for. Given its popularity, worry about a fair adaptation of the anime within the fanbase is a given, considering the infamous 2010 movie adaptation by M Night Shyamalan. The skepticism only grows when you take into account Netflix’s history with live-action adaptations of anime (one look at Cowboy Bebop will tell you why). But actress Yvonne Chapman’s comments during a recent interview could ease these worries.

In the past few years, we have witnessed that Netflix has been one of the leading providers of anime content. The streamer has played a major part in popularizing the genre with its expanding anime catalogue. Similarly even, Avatar: The Last Airbender will be available on the platform as and when it releases, which will be a while given the delay. And recently, Yvonne Chapman, who will portray Avatar Kyoshi in the series, gave fans some relief during her interview with Cliche Magazine.

Praising the show runners, Chapman revealed to Cliche Magazine (as per Avatar News), “The showrunners and creators have such a passion for the story.She added how the creators were all fans of the show while growing up. So, it is safe to say that fans can be at ease because the show is good hands.

The actress even shed some light on how the directors had immense respect for the source material and had a sense of how the audiences would have watched the show as well. She further revealed her excitement as she spoke about how the upcoming series will be great. Hearing Chapman speak it is safe to assume that her character Kyoshi will bear the same wise and mythical aura as in the original series.

After nearly running for three years, the series concluded with an incredible two hour long television movie. The series received global recognition and won hearts around the world. As per reports by Collider, the live action adaptation has been in the making since 2018.
