Before ‘Dune 2’, Timothee Chalamet to Debut in Live Action Anime ‘Gundam’ for Netflix

The actor is known for opting for roles that thrive on subtlety and emotional layers. Chalamet’s asset has become the perfect adornment for Netflix’s cherished anime collection. The Dune actor has been the talk of the town for stepping into the world of Kardashians as he becomes a regular at Kylie Jenner’s side. However, that is not the only new area of entertainment he is foraying into. As Netflix constructs its fort of animes turned live-action movies, it seems Chalamet might become the first emperor.

The last time the French American actor reprised the role of a fictional character, it resulted in a box office hit of $402 million. As Netflix plans to bank on the success of Japan’s billion-dollar making franchise, Gundam, by going live-action mode, who better than Timothee Chalamet to play one of the leading roles?
Has Netflix secured Timothee Chalamet for live-action Gundam?
The OTT Mogul has come quite far with live-action anime adaptations. From anime fans dreading the thought of anime live-action movies at the hands of a Western production owing to the trauma bestowed by Death Note and Cowboy Bebop to seeing a ray of hope in recent adaptations of Bleach and Rurouni Kenshin. If the report by Giant Freaking Robot is to be believed, then Timothee Chalamet is in talks to play a leading role in the film.
Gundam‘s live-action movie spinoff has kept fans on the hook for very long. Almost half a decade, to be exact. So much so that the twenty-seven-year-old actor taking the lead is the first update in a long time.
The Dune actor has yet to say anything about the news. However, whether or not he takes the lead, Netflix going big with the live-action Gundam is enough news to celebrate.

Who else does the Netflix live-action anime movie have on board?
Timothee Chalamet is not the only big name on Gundam‘s board. The streamer has sought Jordan Vogt Roberts to take on the director’s role. Roberts has an impressive history in the thriller genre.

Blockbusters like Kong: Skull Island and Metal Gear Solid prove he knows how to brew a hit at the theaters. Moreover, if everything goes as planned and Gundam’s live-action begins production in June, we will soon hear the lead actor’s name.
