Avatar: The Last Airbender has made a huge resurgence in recent years. Following its comeback to Netflix, the franchise received thousands of new admirers as viewers of all ages rediscover Aang’s appeal. All eyes are back on Avatar these days, as the IP looks to expand with plenty of fresh material. One of these projects is Netflix’s new live-action television series, and one of its stars has just given us a sneak peak at their role.

Avatar is one of those few anime that is not only popular for its story but also for its characters. Over the course of three seasons or books if you will the show introduced numerous characters, all which are now iconic. But hard core fans of the show now that no other character is as important to the show as that of Avatar Roku. And now we have are first look of the character.

C.S. Lee took to social media earlier this week to offer the sneak peek with followers, and supporters are already ecstatic. Lee shared the photographs in his Instagram story, and Avatar enthusiasts rushed to preserve the shot before it vanished. The shot, as you can see above, doesn’t show much of Lee in character, but it does highlight certain crucial features.

The close-up emphasises Goku’s famous grey moustache and beard. As of now, people believe Netflix nailed this Avatar’s facial hair. This is the first glimpse we’ve had of Avatar Roku in Netflix’s rendition. It was long suspected that Lee would portray the Avatar, so it’s good to see some of his work.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Panel at TUDUM

This is the first glimpse we’ve had of Avatar Roku in Netflix’s rendition.  Of course, Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has been kept under wraps. Although filming on Avatar completed last year, no official character posters, much alone footage, have been published. We don’t even have a firm release date, although that might change shortly.

Netflix has announced that their new TUDUM event will take place in just a few days. On June 17th, the event will take place in Brazil and it will be streaming live across the world. Avatar: The Last Airbender will participate in the event, according to a TUDUM ad, and Lee tweeted his sneak peek immediately after this revelation.

We’re keeping our fingers crossed that this means fans will get a decent glimpse of Avatar soon! It might not be long before Aang and his full crew can be seen by fans!
