Fans, who were playing detective with Middleton's whereabouts to satisfy their epistemic emotions while she was battling her own demons, have now come forward to express their remorse. But they are not the only ones hit hard by the news. 

It looks like even Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were taken aback. Upon hearing the sobering update, the estranged duo felt compelled to offer their heartfelt response.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex may be away from the royal happenings, but they never hesitate to step up when family matters arise. Upon hearing about Kate Middleton's health update regarding her cancer treatment, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry promptly issued a statement. "We wish health and healing for Kate and the family, and hope they are able to do so privately and in peace," said the Sussexes to PEOPLE. 

Before the Princess of Wales shared the recent news about her health, a family insider revealed to PEOPLE that Prince Harry and Markle were kept in the dark about Middleton's abdominal surgery and recovery. Although they typically stay informed about happenings back in England,  they were conspicuously left out of any details regarding the cancer diagnosis. "There is clearly no trust", the source told to PEOPLE. While this was Meghan Markle’s first reaction to the unfolding events, Prince Harry had previously voiced his concerns about Middleton.

As per reports, Prince Harry was “distracted” by the theories about Kate Middleton’s disappearance. 

People initially began speculating that something was awry with the future Queen. However, things became bizarre following the Mother’s Day photo controversy, and the secrecy surrounding the Princess’s health only heightened fans' suspicions. Amidst the skepticism, a source informed Page Six that Prince Harry was feeling uneasy by the media scrutiny surrounding Middleton.

The source shared that the Prince has been consumed with concern over the headlines surrounding Middleton’s sudden absence. However, Prince Harry maintained his belief that “any hint of scandal is untrue."And his convictions were proven right after Middleton's update. The palace's withholding of information was, in reality, a deliberate move to protect the Princess' privacy during this challenging time.
